Do I need a Safe Electric registered contractor to install an EV charger?

Yes. EV charger installations are controlled electrical works and must be carried out by a Safe Electric REC. You will receive a completion certificate once the installation is tested and verified

Do I need an inspection before installing a charger?

If your wiring is older or shows signs of deterioration, a pre‑installation inspection may be required to ensure your system can safely support the charger.

How long does installation take?

Most installations take a half day to 1 day, depending on cable routes and the condition of your existing electrical system.
