Home Rewires
How do I know if my home needs rewiring?
Common indicators include:
- Frequent tripping or blown fuses
- Old fuse boards without RCD protection
- Rubber, fabric, or aluminium wiring
- Warm or discoloured sockets
- Lack of sockets or outdated fittings
- Property older than 30 years with no recent electrical upgrades
A Safe Electric registered contractor can assess and confirm whether a rewire is necessary.
Do rewires need to be certified?
Yes. A full rewire is considered Controlled Electrical Works and must be certified by a Safe Electric REC.
You will receive a Completion Certificate (Cert 3) once the work is finished.
How long does a rewire take?
A typical 3‑bed home takes
5–10 days, depending on access and whether the property is occupied.
Will a rewire damage walls or décor?
Some chasing into walls is unavoidable. We keep disruption to a minimum and can arrange plastering if required.
